Live Streams of Michael Jackson’s Funeral to Create Online Video History
July 6th, 2009
Currently the record for the biggest online video event is held by Obama’s Inauguration where an estimated 70 million viewers logged on to watch history in the making. That was even higher than TV viewing in the U.S. which was just under 40 million viewers.
However, Obama could lose the ‘live online trophy’ on Tuesday when Michael Jackson’s funeral takes place. Interest in Michael Jackson’s death has already surpassed the interest seen for Obama’s Inauguration, so it is expected Michael’s memorial service will break online viewing records.
Could it be possible that Michael Jackson’s funeral surpasses 100 million online views in the U.S? It could very well be possible and worldwide viewers will be even higher.
The main U.S. online broadcasters will be the mainstream news networks such as CNN and ABC, although specialized live video sites including uStream and Hulu will also have coverage.
A full round-up of live streams and videos of the memorial service is scheduled to go live on Web TV Hub in time for the event.
