For many of your favorite celebrities, the talent doesn’t just extend to acting or singing, they’re accomplished authors. They’ve written novels, biographies or children’s stories. What follows is a list of 40 celebrity authors.
This isn’t a list filled with self-serving autobiographies written by someone else. All books on this list are written by the credited celebrity author. There are many children’s authors on this list as well as novelists, cook book authors and even a few wannabe self-help gurus. Know of any more celebrity authors? - Ethan Hawke – Author of two novels, “Ash Wednesday” and “The Hottest State”.
- Dom DeLuise – Author of two cookbooks – “Eat This” and “Eat This Too.” Also authored the children’s books “Charlie and the Caterpillar,” “The Pouch Potato,”The Nightingale” and several others.
- Henry Winkler – A dyslexic himself, Henry co-authored several books about a very imaginative dyslexic named Hank Zipzer.
- Ally Sheedy – Wrote “She Was Nice to Mice” about Queen Elizabeth when she was 12 and later on a book of poetry, “Yesterday, I Saw the Sun.”

- Fred Gwynne – Best known for his portrayal of Herman Munster, Fred Gwynne is the author of ten children’s books including “The King Who Rained” and “A Chocolate Moose for Dinner”.
