I have to be honest. I don’t really watch American Idol anymore. I tuned in for the first couple of seasons but after that it started wearing on me. I do tune in at the beginning though as I find the rejects to be much more entertaining than those who make the cut.
Meet Exhibit A. Paul Martuano
He wrote a song about stalking Paula Abdul and needed an escort out of there.
Exhibit B. Christina Tolisano who either thought doing up her hair like Princess Leah would give her an advantage or she wanted to be sure to make it on television.
Exhibit C. Ben Haar has absolutely no talent but wanted to be sure he made it on television by dressing in a genie costume and waxing his abundant chest hair. I’m thinking he did it on a bet.
It’s so easy to be on television nowadays, isn’t it? In a way, I wish American Idol didn’t indulge the attention whores. It would make the competition seem a lot more legit.
