AP Prepares Britney Spears’ Obituary

January 18th, 2008

Britney Spears torn stockings

I know. After a two day Britney Spears blackout, we’re back to reporting on the troubled popwreck. I promise not to make it all Britney, all the time though and I still reserve the right of refusal.

So I’m reading that the Associated Press has already begun to prepare Britney’s obituary. As sad as it is, if it happens it’s going to be a huge story and they’re looking to be prepared.

"We are not wishing it, but if Britney passed away, it’s easily one of the biggest stories in a long time," AP entertainment editor Jesse Washington tells Us Magazine.

"I think one would agree that Britney seems at risk right now," Washington adds. "Of course, we would never wish any type of misfortune on anybody and hope that we would never have to use it until 50 years from now…but if something were to happen, we would have to be prepared."

This isn’t as outlandish as it sounds. During the 80’s and 90’s when I worked in publishing my company was forever updating "special edition" magazines to be released after particular stars passed away. I remember constantly bringing the Elizabeth Taylor basket to the front burner as she went through all of her health crises. There were other celeb issues waiting as well.

One would hope this sort of thing would be a wake up call for Ms. Britney Spears but it’s not. Her appearance, her tantrums, her different accents, clearly she’s mentally ill. If Sam Lufti and Adnan Ghalib care for her as much as they say they do, they’d get her help now - even if she doesn’t like it. The problem is, the only people who will hang out with her now are the leeches and parasites.

The people in her life have to start intervening, no matter how unreceptive she is. She’ll thank them later.
