Dr.Phil discusses the Britney Spears situation on The Early Show.
It appears yesterdays visit between Britney Spears and Dr. Phil wasn’t what it appeared to be. Britney wasn’t expecting Dr. Phil and he wasn’t exactly welcome. In fact, letting Dr.Phil visit against Britney’s wishes was a violation of hospital policy and Britney’s rights. When Dr. Phil walked in her room a stunned Britney walked out. She did end up coming back, but he wasn’t invited to be there.
You knew it wouldn’t be long before Dr. Phil weighed in on the whole Britney Spears debacle, didn’t you? In fact, Dr. Phil said on his television show last week that Britney was a risk to herself, and her two children, and should be committed.
TV therapist Dr. Phil MacGraw devoted a special edition of his “Dr. Phil” help show around Spears’ current predicament, worrying that the singer and mother of two (Sean Preston, 2, and Jayden James, 1) is a suicide risk who may need to be committed to a mental institution. “Right now, I believe Britney is so out of control, she couldn’t stop this if she wanted to,” Dr. Phil said on the show. “If you are addicted to drugs, if you are addicted to alcohol — I don’t know if she is, but there are a lot of indications that she may have that problem — then I’m not sure she could trust herself to think through this in a reasonable way.
“Maybe she needs to be involuntarily committed; she is not displaying good judgment.”
Normally I’d roll my eyes, but I happen to think Dr. Phil is right. Girlfriend’s out of control.
