As you know, Regis Philbin was scheduled for heart surgery this week. Kelly Ripa, co-host of “Live with Regis and Kelly” announced on the show today that Philbin underwent the surgery yesterday morning and has come through “with flying colors.”

Philbin had announced his reservations about the surgery beforehand, but said that he “knew it was the best thing he could do for his health.”

It appears that Philbin is reacting well after the surgery, and he’s expected to return to the show in 5 weeks.

Most people know Regis Philbin as co-host of his television show, “Live with Regis and Kelly.” If you didn’t watch the show today however, you wouldn’t have heard his shocking announcement.

Philbin, 75, told his audience about his condition and said that he was going to undergo heart bypass surgery sometime this week.
