With writers on strike and actors refusing to cross the picket line, will there be a Golden Globes with no script and no famous people to walk the red carpet? Golden Globes producers are hoping not. In fact, they’re hoping the striking WGA will grant their waiver request to allow strking writers to write for the prestigious award show.
While that’s sure to make the producers and advertisers happy, to me it defeats the purpose. Why grant a waiver? Wouldn’t it send a stronger message for writers to not write for the show and actors not show up? The striking writers may have already destined the upcoming season to a reality television love fest, why not keep up the momentum and stay away from the awards shows? It would certainly drive the point home.
