Dr.Phil Issues A Half Assed Apology
So Dr. Phil is trying to do damage control. As you’re sure to recall, he blindsided looney Britney Spears at the hospital and then issued a statement regarding her condition, pissing off her family. He also pissed off legions of shrinks, hospital employees and America’s television viewing public who could smell a ratings ploy from miles away. So now the good doctor’s doing damage control and says he regrets making a statement.
Note I said he regrets making a statement. He doesn’t at all regret trying to turn the whole situation into a "let’s help Britney Spears" ratings extravaganza featuring Britney, her family, lots of hangers on and a 25 piece orchestra. Here’s the lame "regret":
"Was it helpful to the situation? Regrettably, no. It was not, and I have to acknowledge that and I do," he told his audience. "I definitely think if I had it to do over again, I probably wouldn’t make any statement at all. Period."
