Elizabeth Edwards suprised Ann Coulter by calling into MSNBC’s Hardball with Chris Matthews and calling Coulter out for her personal attacks.
“It lowers our political dialogue precisely at the time that we need to raise it,” Edwards said. “So I want to use the opportunity to ask her politely stop the personal attacks. These young people behind you are the age of my children. You’re asking them to participate in a dialogue that’s based on hatefulness and ugliness instead of on the issues and I don’t think that’s serving or this country very well.”
Edwards especially took issue with Coulter’s remarks about her husband exploiting the death of their son. Coulter’s response?
“The wife of a Presidential candidate is asking me to stop speaking? No.”
