Famed British pop singer Elton John celebrated his 60th birthday in style.
At Madison Square Garden on Sunday, John honored the late John Lennon of Beatle’s fame, and played more than 30 songs spanning his four-decade long career.
After playing 59 shows in the Madison Square Garden arena, he decided the perfect place to host his record-breaking 60th concert there as well.
The three hour performance was a hit, and John recalled two special concerts that remained in his memory. One, the performance after the 9/11 attacks, and the other when John Lennon joined him on stage (which turned out to be Lennon’s last concert appearance.)
The concert/birthday bash ended on a high note with “Your Song,” the first single that lifted Elton John to the top of the pop charts.
