Nicole Richie doesn’t even want to “take an aspirin” when she’s in labor. Mmm hmmm. I wonder if now would be a good time to mention how I feel the greatest invention known to man is the epidural? I know plenty of women haven given birth without the benefits of pain killers, and I’m happy to say I’m not one of them. I’m so not into pain. But props to Nicole for going the natural route.
Here’s the quote from Star Magazine:
The reformed celebutante “has been adamant about not putting any sort of drug or chemical into her body since she learned she was pregnant,” a friend tells Star. “Nicole has made her mistakes in the past, but she doesn’t want her child to suffer because of them.” The 25-year-old star sought help immediately after learning that she was having Joel Madden’s baby. In May she became a rehab out patient at the Beau Monde treatment center in California. Now she appears to have own the battle against her drug demons and is determined not to do anything that could compromise her wholesome new drug-free lifestyle. “She’s hoping to go through childbirth without an epidural or any other painkillers,” says the friend. “She feels if she can get through that without drugs, she can get through anything.”
I wish her luck. If she really wants to battle demons, wait until those cravings for chocolate milk and peanut butter and banana sandwiches kick in.

Have done it both ways Nichole. Depends on the labor. Trust me on this one. Never say never!
With my first born singleton an epidural was a blessed relief. Then, totally freaked out that the hospital did not offer epidurals (big worry), did without and delivered within 2.5 hours. Twins!
