Now that news broke that Prince Harry is on the front lines in Afghanistan, it’s just not safe for him or the soldiers around him as he’s now a target. As a result, Harry is being shipped home to England.
“Following a detailed assessment of the risks by the operational chain of command, the decision has been taken … to withdraw Prince Harry from Afghanistan immediately,” the Ministry of Defense confirmed in a statement. “This decision has been taken primarily on the basis that the worldwide media coverage of Prince Harry in Afghanistan could impact on the security of those who are deployed there, as well as the risks to him as an individual soldier.”
That’s a wise move. While I’m sure the press was thrilled to have such a great scoop, they should be for compromising Harry’s position as well as the safety of the other soldiers. Originally Harry was to serve until April. The Ministry of Defense now feels he should come home immediately.
I think Harry is to be commended for wanting to be where the action is. We read about so many celebrities and rich people taking instead of giving, it’s nice to see someone who doesn’t use his privilege to keep him away from the war. Harry said he hopes his mother is proud of him. I’m sure she is.
