Most people know Regis Philbin as co-host of his television show, “Live with Regis and Kelly.” If you didn’t watch the show today however, you wouldn’t have heard his shocking announcement.
Philbin, 75, told his audience about his condition and said that he was going to undergo heart bypass surgery sometime this week.
According to Philbin, he had originally wanted to have angioplasty, because it’s a less invasive procedure. It seems however that Philbin’s condition is worse than he’d originally thought, and his only option is bypass surgery.
Kelly Ripa, the other co-host on the show, plans to support him during this difficult time.
While no exact date of surgery has yet been mentioned, Philbin does plan to undergo bypass surgery sometime in the coming week.
