The Spears Family Feels Betrayed by Dr. Phil
Lots of back and forth going on regarding the Spears family and Dr. Phil. The hospital says Britney was blind sided by Dr. Phil and that he’s only trying to gain ratings for his talk show. Dr. Phil says he’s not a ratings-whore and the Spears family invited him to ambush Britney. Now the Spears family are lodging their latest volley. They’re saying they were betrayed by the talk show host.
Lou Taylor, spokesperson for the entire Spears family except for Britney, appeared on The Today Show this morning and chatted with Meredith Viera about the inappropriate behavior Dr. Phil McGraw exhibited following his visit to see Britney Spears last week. "He was invited [by Jamie and Lynn Spears to come and see Britney]," Taylor said, "but he was not invited to make this part of public display," she remarked about the press release Dr. Phil issued following his visit.
When Meredith asked if Taylor believed that Jamie and Lynn hurt their already fragile relationship with their eldest daughter by asking Phil to come, she replied, "I think it’s been compromised, because it’s a measure of trust," regarding Britney’s fear that everyone she knows is out to exploit her. "They were taken advantage of, they are people who love their daughter and need support."
I’m not sure if anyone is innocent here. I mean, Lynn Spears sold her pregnant daughter to OK! for $1 million so forgive me if I don’t believe she didn’t want anything publicized. My personal opinion is that if there wasn’t all the public backlash, the Spears family would have appeared on Dr. Phil and we wouldn’t be having this conversation. And you can’t tell me Dr. Phil didn’t get a big old woody at the thought of having the Britney Spears ratings bonanza on Monday. Britney’s sick and all these people can do is bicker back and forth about who is more betrayed.
