After last year’s much publicized split between Tom Cruise and Viacom-owned Paramount Pictures, it appears that Viacom chairman Sumner Redstone wants to be friends again.
According to Redstone, some of the reasons he cut ties with Cruise stemmed from his behavior over his relationship with Katie Holmes, as well as his religious fanaticism regarding scientology.
Recently, Cruise signed a lucrative deal with MGM to resurrect the once-defunct United Artists Studio.
Redstone and Cruise haven’t talked since the split, but Sumner does really seem to want to put the past behind him.
During Thursday’s premier of Zodiac, Redstone told PEOPLE magazine that “[Cruise] was a great friend.”
It remains to be seen whether the pair can renew their friendship.
