All eyes will be on Prince William and Kate Middleton today as they attend the Concert for Diana together. This is their first time in public since reconciling last month. Or did they really break up?
Royal watcher Christopher Anderson tells Page Six the whole breakup may have been an elaborate hoax.
“Their closest friends believe it was all a ruse to get Britain’s voracious tabloid press off Kate’s back,” Andersen dishes. “William has had recurring nightmares that Kate would meet the same fate [as his mom, Princess Diana], literally chased to her death by paparazzi.”
“They simply make it look as if the romance was completely over. The strategy worked, even though they were in almost constant touch via phone, e-mail and text-messaging ever since.” They’ve also secretly met, necking at Wills’ army barracks. “Everyone is rooting for Kate because no one wants to see William make the same mistake Charles made and pass up marrying the woman he fell in love with in the first place.”
